The Canyon Tubing or Red Route Canyon Adventure is a downstream Tubing/Canyoning experience that delivers the complete package and is where adventure began in Tsitsikamma more than 50 years ago. This action packed adventure includes the most enchanting highlights of Tsitsikamma as you explore the Goesa Indigenous forest reserve, spectacular and otherwise inaccessible Narrow Gorge, and exit at the Storms River Mouth “Tsitsikamma National Park” now “Garden Route National Park-Tsitsikamma Section”
Tubes are used on the Storms River to paddle through the many long pools and for negotiating the tight fast flowing sections in between these pools. Our specialized river tubes- are light enough for portage over the many bouldering sections. This experience is somewhat similar to Canyoning without the need for rope access.
This is the only Tsitsikamma Activity where you’ll get to experience of our pristine forests, spectacular canyons and unique coast line all in one extraordinary excursion.

Tubing experiences vary according to changing river levels and weather conditions. So please call a day in advance for advice. Wetsuit use is not compulsory but is highly recommended for Red Route participants. Wetsuits and booties are available for hire on the day. Most (90%) of our trips are conducted on medium-low to low water and the trip entails pool paddling, bouldering and walking, tube jumps, swimming, and optional rock jumps up to 8m in height. (short pour over and shoot rapids are water level dependent) This trip is not suitable for children under 12 years and is suitable for fit people capable of swimming only.
