Stormsriver Adventures is a professional, eco-conscious adventure company nestled in the heart of the legendary Tsitsikamma Forest. One of our signature experiences, the Woodcutters Journey, invites guests to slow down and reconnect with nature on a deeply immersive forest adventure.
Travel down the historic old Stormsriver Pass in a specially designed vehicle, winding through ancient indigenous forest along traditional elephant migratory routes. Towering Yellowwoods, Stinkwoods, and other giants of the forest stand as silent witnesses while our expert guides bring the landscape to life with rich storytelling, history, and local knowledge.
This journey takes you centuries back in time. Surrounded by pristine wilderness, you’ll experience Tsitsikamma exactly as it was meant to be—raw, untouched, and breathtaking. Carefully selected for its unmatched beauty, this environment allows guests to fully absorb the rhythm and serenity of the forest.
Our trained professional guides share fascinating insights into local culture, fauna, and flora—from the Knob Wood tree, traditionally used by the Khoisan to treat toothache, to plants like “Bushman’s Bedding,” once used as a natural insect repellent. Learn the meaning behind the ancient Khoi word “Tsitsikamma”, translating to “place of many waters.”
Nature sets the soundtrack. The haunting call of the Fish Eagle echoes through the forest, while lucky guests may spot the elusive Narina Trogon, adding a rare and unforgettable touch to the experience.
A highlight of the journey is a visit to the oldest stone building in Stormsriver, once used as a hunting lodge and gathering place for early hunters. Standing next to a massive Hard Pear tree, guests are humbled by nature’s scale, while ancient Tree Ferns, hundreds of years old, remind us just how small we are in the grand timeline of the forest.
Throughout the experience, guides provide engaging narration, ensuring every moment is informative, personal, and memorable.
Discover nature at its purest on the Woodcutters Journey—where history, culture, and wilderness come together in one unforgettable Tsitsikamma experience.

The entire experience was memorable and the special touches appreciated. Emogene stepped up and with his charm and knowledge kept us captivate for our entire tour. What made it extra special was the fact that this tour suited our unique family dynamic. Grandma (84), our professional kids and their partners, as well as my husband with medical issues and the soft spot, our well traveled Maltese, Lexi, that was allowed on the tour. I would highly recommend this tour, driving back into history, surrounded by ancient trees. Thanks for the considerate driver and the lunch box. Will definitely make use of this company again. - Dalena Wolmarans
Een heel leuke ervaring. Veel uitleg gekregen van de gids over de bomen, planten en bosbeheer. Dit alles maakte het echt interessant. Ook het tochtje met de tractor maakte het heel speciaal en ontspannend. Een absolute aanrader! - Iris Bogaert
Such an informative and beautiful day spent in nature. Friendly staff that clearly have a good knowledge and love for this spectacular place. - Zyno Ferreira
Was absolutely wonderful to spend the time in nature, and to learn some facts about plants and small reptiles. The guide and driver was very knowlegable - Pieter Venter
